What are the solutions to general contact rail faults
DATE:2018.04.12HITS:477

Common Fault 1 of the Contact Rail: Uneven Wear on the Stainless Steel Contact Surface of the Contact Rail

Reason: The collector shoe is not aligned with the contact rail

Solution: Refer to the running rail to check the contact surface of the contact rail. The horizontal distance between the center of the contact rail and the inner side of the nearest running rail should be 726.5 ± 5mm, and the vertical distance should be 200 ± 5mm.

Adjust the relevant brackets. If the angle between the contact rail and the collector shoe is different, it will lead to a decrease in the effective contact surface, local overheating, and may cause serious electrical wear. Check the surface of the bracket. If damaged, replace it.

Common Fault 2 of Contact Rail: Overheating

Attention: If overheating occurs, surrounding components are likely to be damaged due to their combustion and arcing. Further repair may be necessary depending on the damage.

Reason:

1. Loose connection of ordinary joints

Solution: Loosen the ordinary joint, clean the contact surface with a metal brush, thoroughly inspect the parts with arc damage, and if there are no abnormalities, use a metal brush to clean the burrs on the contact surface and apply a layer of conductive grease. Reinstall the ordinary joint and pay attention to the sequence of gaskets. The bolt tightening torque is 70 Nm.

2. Overload

Solution: Check the electrical load. Adjust according to system parameters

3. Loose intermediate joint of electrical connection

Solution: Disconnect the intermediate connector of the electrical connection, clean the contact surface again, apply conductive grease, and then reinstall according to the installation instructions.

During the use of the contact rail, due to its lifespan or improper usage, some faults may occasionally occur. Therefore, our staff needs to have an understanding of some common troubleshooting methods for the contact rail, in order to better serve us.
